Micro-coax harness for the SOM industrial automotive module

Micro Electronics in the collaboration with the automotive integrator company from EU has developed the Micro-Coaxial RF harness for use in the automotive SOM module. This Cable harness with the original MHF4 LK connectors has a mechanical locking system & suitable for use to connect antennas to any RF module in high vibration applications.

There are some key tasks which we did during the design of the SOM:

  • 1st task of this harness is to be as all in one solution SOM connection for improving detachment stability for any consumer & industrial application.
  • 2nd task is to use the minimal PCB space & highest performance consumer RF frequency so that it’ll be possible to keep the speed of the data transfer between module & wireless points.
  • 3rd task is to use long term industry standard parts with an optimized cost which cannot be obsolete for a long time

The solution was found with Patented crimping harness parts which meet reliability at scale and consistent VSWR performance up to 15 GHz. Applied cables options range can be from 0.48mm to 2.0mm OD and mated board heights between 0.8mm and 3mm. The finished harness products can have custom cable lengths & mating options.
